An interesting story out of Texas – they have a prepaid tuition plan (like many other states) and apparently, under current circumstances, the fund will run out of money by 2015-2017. According to the article, poor investment performance and rapidly rising state tuition costs helped cause the problem:
They stopped allowing new participants a few years ago as the original projections changed. Also, because the state guarantees the plan and they will likely have to put in over $2 billion to fund this through.
And the hits just keep on coming…
