Getting Messy

Friday I was out of the office all day and only looked at the indices. Didn’t appear to me that much of anything happened. then I looked this morning at my account – saw a couple of companies, who reported nice quarters, whose stock prices had jumped 15-20% had reversed hard Friday.

Looking across the markets this morning, it seems like speculative stuff is a bit shaky (small cap, emerging markets, etc) while the large caps that have been working are holding up well today. In a few other corrections, I have noticed that the last stocks to get notified that there is a correction going on are the favorites with the high RS (obviously). Nonetheless, 2 days of data doesn’t tell us everything though clues are popping up.

I dumped TIP this AM for everyone, which means it will reverse back up and move higher. But it just wasn’t diversifying the way that I wanted and I am now on the prowl for a better diversifier for our portfolios.

let’s see what happens at the end of the day today…

At the time of this writing, I or my clients own the following investments mentioned in this column: None (just sold TIP)
