Free Speech Before the Supreme Court

9.11.09

On this anniversary of “9/11” I happened upon an Economist article profiling a coming case before the Supreme Court regarding free speech:

I found it intriguing and certainly important enough to share with you. Many rules, laws, and regulations have been created over the years that have stifled free speech under some purpose or another. I am hoping this time, the Supreme Court, which asked that this particular case be retried so they could hear the arguments, drives a stake into any vampire of a rule/law/reg that limits free speech.

And just to be clear, I’m not talking about lewd stuff, though that should be begrudgingly protected, I mean the right to argue certain points at certain times and the right for certain people to say things at certain times without breaking a “rule.”
