In an obvious attempt by the White House to get ahead of the Sept. 25 committee hearings on Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed Bill, Treasury Secretary Geithner proposed to the Fed that they conduct a review of Fed practices with help from outside experts including the Treasury.
Seeing encroachment on their independence, Fed officials told Geither – Thank you, no! They know the public won’t like what they find out when they analyze all the handouts to AIG, foreign banks, and other financial institutions and when they see the cozy relationship the Fed has to Wall Street bankers.
