I have mentioned in the past a few times that rising crime will certainly be a part of this deep recession. As jobs are lost and everyone from retirees (blown up pensions) to teenagers (no summer jobs) lose income, people will resort to other ways to “earn” income.
Here is an interesting article from MHN (Multi Housing News) on the increased use of security services for apartment facilities:
Interestingly, they point that that historically, security services present at a residence might have been a sign of worry sparking potential residents to ask “why do they need security?” Now it is seen as a definite selling point with potential renters preferring on site security.
