My First ‘Cheap Ba**ard’ Post

6.14.2010

Good morning my friends. I hope you all had a good weekend!

My ‘adventures’ over the weekend inspired me to create a new category on my  blog which I have decided to call “Cheap Ba**ard.” Here’s how it this category came to be…

My good friend Joe and I were enjoying one of our ‘run and grub’ nights – where we go for a run, then grab an Anna’s burrito followed by a nice beverage at Starbucks. last night I ordered a chai tea with a splash of soy unsweetened – because I planned to flavor with nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon and Splenda. The cashier charged me over $4 – then I realized he was charging me for a chai soy latte because normally this drink costs under $2! I corrected him and it got me thinking:

A Chai tea, with a splash of soy costs $1.95! The latte was going to cost over $4.50! And they taste the same to me – if the plain chai is flavored correctly by adding Splenda, cinnamon and vanilla. Therefore, if I do this, I can have the drink I enjoy (Chai Soy Latte) at a price that is > 50% lower than its normal price by ordering the alternative (Chai tea with splash of soy).

While discussing this, Joe responded that when he brings his kids to Starbucks, he orders a ‘vente’ passionfruit (another delicious low/no calorie drink) and just splits it into 2 cups for his 2 kids – saving money over ordering each a “tall.”

So there’s two ideas – especially if you are a Starbucks person – on how to save some money. Enjoy! And feel free to share your money saving ideas  -and perhaps I will feature some of your ideas.
