Monday Thoughts – Maybe YOU Will Be a Foreign Worker Someday

“Go find a job overseas – Asia is where the growth is. Not here”

This is what I exhorted senior students of  my alma mater, Tufts University, to do after graduation when I spoke in front of them this past school year. As Asia grows and the US contracts (job wise – we had to know that as millions of educated Indians, Chinese, etc poured onto the job market, it would cause deflation of salaries worldwide – simple supply/demand dynamics), job opportunities would open for educated Americans overseas.

This article from CNBC highlights this upcoming trend:

If you have children or grandchildren, it would be good advice to tell them to get some Asian exposure in this world economy – whether it’s through a study abroad program at university, a high school exchange program (recommended), or getting work there. Learning Mandarin, since there are significant Chinese populations in many Asian countries, would be very helpful.
